The Andhra Pradesh Government has reiterated its appeal to the Telangana Government to have a common schedule for the Intermediate examinations.
Reacting to the announcement that the examinations would commence in Telangana on March 9, while the schedule starts on March 11 in AP, Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao said here on Saturday that AP would approach the Governor on this issue and is also ready to deal with the issue in the legal way.
"The AP Re-organisation Act stipulated that the two States must have common examinations for a certain period of time and a common examination would be beneficial to the students since there is weightage for Intermediate marks in EAMCET ranks. First year examinations were common and having separate examinations for the second year would create confusion among students. Also examinations in one State might be tough and easy in the other State", Mr. Srinivasa Rao explained at a press conference. AP was ready to follow the Telangana schedule and AP Chief Secretary was asked to talk to his Telangana counterpart. 11 lakh students in AP and nine lakh in Telengana are appearing for the examinations.
He regretted that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao was still in the agitation mode and talking of leading an agitation. Though he welcomed the AP Reorganisation Act whole heartedly and thanked Congress president Sonia Gandhi for bringing in the bill, Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao was not following its contents. Even for a minor problem he faced, Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao would blame AP instead of finding a solution. The Telangana CM was trying to divert attention of the people as he was not able to fulfil the impracticable promises he made but he could not deceive people for long, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said.
He tried to play down the clash between him and Panchayati Raj minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu over the transfer of two RDOs in the district. Transfers was administrative issue and need not be made a big issue, he said and added that he had not heard any MLA making a comment on the Minister (Mr. Patrudu). Yesterday, some MLAs met him to discuss transfers of MPDOs but RDOs transfers were not discussed, he said.
On the DSC notification, the Minister said reply from Central Government on the issue of considering B.Ed. graduates for SGT posts was awaited. (Unemployed youth under the banner of DYFI marched to his house a few days ago seeking release of DSC notification but were taken into custody by the police.
