Anantapur district, on Friday, observed a total bandh demanding that the State remain united even as people eagerly waited for the decision to be taken by the leaders after the Core Committee meeting.
While private as well as APSRTC buses kept off the roads across the district, the voluntary participation of people in the bandh came as a surprise to many.

A similar sit in protest was organised at Kadiri which resulted in severe traffic jam.
A human chain was also formed at Sadbhavana circle in Hindupur town.
Lawyers in Anantapur town staged a protest and raised slogans against dividing the State saying that the idea of a linguistic state was sacrosanct.
