YSR Congress Party MLA B. Gurunath Reddy, representing the district headquarters town, on Sunday faxed his resignation to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, after members of the Samaikhyandhra Joint Action Committee 'gheroed' his residence.
On Sunday, activists went to the MLA's residence and demanded that he should tender his resignation in support of their struggle for ‘Samaikhyandhra’ (united Andhra Pradesh). Immediately, the MLA prepared a resignation letter, affixed his signature and dashed it off to the Speaker in Hyderabad. Probably, Mr. Reddy is the first MLA resign for the cause of united Andhra Pradesh.

It is laudable that an MLA resigns as he believes it is a noble cause.
In persuance of his peoples wishes he does this but, then he should also
resign form his party so that he cannot support morally a party that
opposes the cause of the MLA and the people of his constituency.
I wonder what happens these MLAS of TDP, YSRC and even congress if the
fever of resignations are forced on them.
