Anakapalle MLA questions SIT investigation process

Levels charges against Visakhapatnam RDO

Ruling TDP MLA from Anakapalle Peela Govinda Satyanaryana has questioned the jurisdiction of the Visakhapatnam RDO in passing order on lands lawfully purchased by his late father and also found fault with the SIT’s investigation process.

The MLA against whom a case of land-grabbing was booked along with 10 others based on the direction of SIT, compared it with the drug investigation in Telangana and said he was not issued a notice, documents were not verified and there was no preliminary investigation.

He alleged that based on photocopies of a judgement said to have been issued by Madras High Court in 1930 the RDO passed his order. The other members of Pakalapati family, who got a share of the land, sold 10 acres to a real estate company for which “no objection certificate” was given, VUDA permission obtained, lay-out developed and plots were sold to public.

The RDO gave the NOC, he said wondering how the case was tenable for 95 acres and not for the 10 acres. Alleging conspiracy, he blamed the role of “big men” from outside in the deal and regretted the plight of locals. Among the purchasers was a well-known contractor with allegiance to the ruling party, the MLA told reporters after complaining to District Collector Pravin Kumar on Monday evening.

While SIT maintained that a VRO tampered the records, the person named was a retired GVMC employee, he alleged.

He said he had taken the issue to Chief Minister’s notice when the case was filed in the RDO court one and a half years ago and recently after he was named in the FIR.

Even as he maintained that in spite of a ruling party MLA he was given a raw deal by SIT and it booked cases against seven dead persons, he exuded confidence that it would do justice to all those affected.

Mr. Satyanarayana said he did not want any help from the Chief Minister but only justice and expressed his readiness to quit if he brought disrepute to Telugu Desam Party.

He also took to the notice of the Chief Minister how a youth called as Vamsi from Telangana mentioned the name of a party leader Peddi Reddy from the region when his land was sought for development.
