Ambulance meets with accident

In a bizarre incident, a CTC Sanjeevini ambulance on Tuesday met with an accident on the second ghat road leading to Tirumala.

The ambulance was on its way back to Tirumala after admitting a devotee, Sarasa, 50, a native of Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu, who suffered a heart stroke while she was half-way on the Alipiri footpath at the government-run SVRR hospital.

The mishap took place when the driver lost control of the speeding vehicle and hit a tree about six kilometres from the Alipiri security checking point at Tirupati.

According to the police, while the driver of the vehicle, Madhu Babu, 32, got his leg fractured, the paramedical officer, Bharat, 34, who had accompanied him, sustained head injuries.
