The premises of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly would soon have a statue of B.R. Ambedkar. It would be installed after getting a nod from the Legislative Committee.
Speaker of the Assembly Nadendla Manohar made the announcement during the 123 birth anniversary celebrations of the father of Indian Constitution, in the Assembly on Sunday. Mr. Manohar and Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and others garlanded a portrait of Dr. Ambedkar.
At the celebrations organised by the State government at Dr. Ambedkar’s statue at Tank Bund here, Deputy Chief Minister C. Damodar Rajanarasihma led those who paid tributes to him. Ministers J. Geetha Reddy, Danam Nagender, S. Sailajanath, Kondru Murali and Union Minister K. Chiranjeevi were among others to pay floral tributes.
