In a noble and lovely gesture, former students of Government DRRM High School here donated examination kits on Monday to 65 Class X students ahead of the SSC examination.

Headmaster K.I. Sriramamurthy joined the students, past and present, during the ‘Saraswathi Yagnam’, which was performed by Vedic pundit G. Brahmananda Sharma on the campus.

The objective of the event was to boost the morale of students before the examination, Oakridge School correspondent E. Sivaprasad, a student of the 1984-85 batch, said.

Revenue Division Officer M.S. Murali and Deputy Superintendent of Police P. Jashua joined the old students in distributing examination kits, which included writing pads and geometry boxes.

The old students, who formed ‘Atimika Kalayika’, have adopted the school, which is mostly attended by poor students, to improve facilities.

“We have planted some 20 tree saplings on the sprawling campus as part of our efforts to protect the environment,” said O. Srinivasa Rao, an alumnus.

“We have also donated a water treatment plant,” another former student, V.V. Ramana, said.
