Almitra Patel leads sanitation drive

On Friday, the ongoing Clean City Championship (CCC) started at Arundelpet area. The programme had a high profile visitor. Almitra Patel, honorary president of CCC was the chief guest.

A relentless crusader, the 73-year-old Patel fought a successful battle against poor solid waste management and filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) forcing the Union Government to put in place effective solid waste management rules in the country. As a member of the solid waste management group, she finds time and energy to coordinate the programme.
