‘All sand mines for DWACRA groups’

The State government has decided to allot all the sand mines to DWACRA groups to empower women. So far, 17,201 SHGs had quarried 14.35 lakh cubic meters of sand and generated a revenue of Rs. 94.94 crore, said Rural Development Minister Kimidi Mrunalini. In reply to a question posed by B. Rajendernadh Reddy (YSRC) in the Assembly on Tuesday, she said according to the Supreme Court judgement 200 sand reaches were identified and the government had also identified 200 Mutually Aided Cooperative Societies (MACS). Proper mechanism was in place with setting up of District Sand Committees headed by the respective Collectors, the Minister said.
