‘All post offices linked online in Kurnool region’

All the post offices in Kurnool region have been linked online under Core Banking Solutions, said Kurnool Senior Superintendent of Post Offices K.V. Subba Rao on Tuesday.

So far 72 post offices had come under the purview of the CBS and one more would come under it on May 9, Mr. Subba Rao told the media here. All the branch post offices would make online transactions under the Rural Information and Communication Technology (RICT) programme soon. Under RICT, all the 1.55 lakh post offices in the country would go online by March 31, 2017.

The SSP issued a notification for recruitment of 15 branch post masters, including seven for reserved categories. Candidates should be aged between 18 and 30 years, pass SSC and have a two-month certificate course in computers from a recognised institution.

The notification was displayed in all the head post offices, sub post offices and mandal post offices and the proforma was available with them. He said 31 grameena dak sevak posts would shortly be notified.

Under the Aseervachanam scheme of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, 18,156 persons got the portraits of Lord Venkateswara Swamy and Sri Padmavathi Devi and prasadam. In all, 3,468 special darshan tickets of Tirumala temple had been sold.

The region surpassed the target under the NREGS by opening 5,56,192 accounts against a target of 3.60 lakh, Mr. Subba Rao said. Under the Kisan Vikas Patra and National Savings Certificates, the region achieved 188.72 per cent of the target. Under the Sukanya Saruddhi Yojana, 25,550 accounts were opened. Under the Postal Life Insurance, premium of Rs. 22.28 crore was collected against the target of Rs. 18 crore. The Rural Postal Life Insurance mopped up premium of Rs. 10 crore. The My Stamp concept picked up among the public and 877 sheets were issued last year.

Eighty nine death claims and 769 maturity claims were settled last year. Ex gratia was disbursed to 62 retired grameena dak sevaks and four cases of compassionate appointment were cleared. The post offices at Orvakal, Midthur, Kothapet and Alur were shifted from dilapidated buildings to new premises, according to Mr. Subba Rao.
