East Godavari Collector Karthikeya Mishra has said that he will take action in two days as soon as he receives final report from Additional Joint Collector (AJC) on complete vision loss to two persons and partial loss to seven others in an eye camp conducted by Lions Club in April.

Speaking to The Hindu on Wednesday, Mr. Mishra said that district programme manager of the District Blindness Control Society Dr. Mallikharjun has given an enquiry report to him on Wednesday. “I asked the AJC to conduct a thorough inquiry on the incident. The AJC is given two days time and I will take action as soon as I get the report,” the Collector said. He said that there were media reports that five persons lost their vision completely and four partially, but the preliminary information that he got was only two had lost their vision completely.

“We will take action on the persons responsible for the incident. But, my priority is to send the victims to L.V. Prasad eye institute, Visakhapatnam first and will take medical advice from them. Basing on it, we are ready to send them to Hyderabad or any other place,” Mr. Mishra added. He assured medical as well as financial support after he gets final inquiry report.
