The temple of Lord Varasiddi Vinayaka Swami at Kanipakam witnessed a surge in the number of devotees with SSC candidates and their parents coming to seek blessings. Elsewhere in Chittoor too, candidates thronged various temples at their respective colonies while dargahs and churches witnessed a similar spectacle.
The district, which stood first in the State in the SCC examination results last year, has as many as 54,064 candidates appearing this year, in 267 centres across the district.
The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the examinations, which will commence on Thursday. The arrangements included formation of 14 flying squads, and deployment of over 3,200 personnel for invigilation and supervision duties.
District educational officer Pratap Reddy said that a control room with number 9441872662 has been set up to work round-the-clock for the convenience of students. Those candidates who could not obtain hall tickets from their respective schools were asked to download the same at the official website, www.bseap.org. The invigilators at the respective centres will assist students from 9.00 a.m. to 9.25 a.m. For the first two examinations, candidates will be allowed to take them even after a delay of half an hour, but the same will not be allowed for other examinations.
