TDP Rajya Sabha member Nandamuri Harikrishna asserted that the ongoing agitation in Seemandhra region against bifurcation of the State has its roots in the people’s angst over division of Telugus and not motivated by any leader or political parties.
In an open letter released on Monday, Mr. Harikrishna, son of late N.T. Rama Rao, said he was firmly in support of united Andhra Pradesh, but asserted that he would abide by whatever decision the party leadership would take on the issue. It may be recalled that Mr. Harikrishna, who initially supported the bifurcation, however, submitted his resignation to the post expressing unhappiness over the way the Congress handled the situation.
He criticised AICC president Sonia Gandhi for indulging in the “political game” for electoral gain. The way Ms. Gandhi dealt with the issue was evident from the fact that the MPs from Seemandhra region were prevented from expressing their feelings in support of the united State.
