The rush of adrenalin used to be palpable as loudspeakers blared "Maa Telangana maaku kaavalee".

A thunderous "Jai Telangana" used invariably to greet these words whenever a visible determined KCR went addressing public meetings in Adilabad in his characteristically earthy style.

People here have already started missing his eloquence realising that from now on the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) founder, who symbolises the movement for the separate State, will change tack as the dream of a new State has been realised.

There are thousands of them who claim to be fans of the orator in KCR having made it a habit to listen to him in person or on TV screens during the last decade or so.

Huge fan following

“There will be less of entertainment of the sort as we got addicted to KCR's quotation laced speeches," says A. Santosh Rao, a Telugu Desam Party activist from Gimma village, who concedes to be a fan of the TRS supremo.

There are many others like Mr. Santosh in the TDP whose president N. Chandrababu Naidu used to be target of KCR's barbs at public meetings.

"Notla bellam, kadupulo kathulu" was the saying used by the TRS chief when he went criticising Mr. Naidu for his unclear stand on the Telangana issue. He is credited with coining the term 'toka partylu' used to depict the status of the Left parties which often latched on to other major political parties during elections.

While the TRS president caught the imagination of people in the eastern coal belt region of Adilabad ever since he floated the TRS in April 2001, it took some time for him to increase the size if his followers in the western parts of the district.

The following did increase by 2004 which was evident from the estimated 1 lakh people attending his public meeting held at the Indira Priyadarshini stadium in the district head quarter town of Adilabad.

Another facet of the Telangana protagonist's oratory was the confidence with which he presented facts, especially about injustice meted out to the region. “The facts he reeled about unemployment, irrigation and about the dams were remarkable," says K. Yadagiri, a teacher and a diehard KCR fan.
