Twelve persons from Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh, who were on their way to Goa, met with an accident near Hubballi on Tuesday morning. Of them, five, including a man and his teenaged son, were killed and six were injured. One person escaped unhurt. The accident took place on Gadag Road on the outskirts of Hubballi.
The driver is said to have lost control of the vehicle reportedly after one of the tyres burst. The vehicle then overturned after hitting the parapet wall of a bridge.
ACP (Traffic) A.S. Khavas gave the names of the deceased as Ismail and his son Ameer, Saddam, Subhan, and Chalapati Reddy.
The injured are Abdul Rehman Mehaboobsab, Moulali Basheer Ahmed, Umar Basha Nabisab, Arun Shikoor, Iqbal Pasha and driver Devendra Laxmana.
They are being treated at KIMS Hospital here. Mr. Khawas said the injured are out of danger.
