The Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths on Thursday unearthed documents related to 18 flats and 15 house sites, a huge quantity of gold and other valuables worth crores belonging to Mandapati Bala Kutumba Rao, assistant secretary, Agriculture Market Committee, Guntur, and his relatives during simultaneously raids at his house in Guntur and three other places in Guntur and Moturu (near Gudivada) of Krishna district.
Arrested
The official had been booked for amassing disproportionate assets, arrested and produced before the court. According to ACB officials, Mr. Kutumba Rao joined government service as assistant marketing supervisor in 1994 and was elevated as assistant secretary last year.
Raids
Following a tip off, officials conducted raids and unearthed immovable properties mostly located in Vijayawada, Machilipatnam, Gudivada, Kankipadu and other areas.
Officials said Mr. Rao had a flat in Vijayawada and an entire apartment building consisting 12 flats in Machilipatnam in his name.
He has seven house sites bought between 1999 and 2011.
Other assets
Also, officials found two flats and six house sites that were held in his wife’s name.
Mr. Rao’s son has two houses and his father-in-law has two house sites.
Gold weighing 545 grams worth ₹15 lakhs and other valuables worth about ₹6 lakhs, a car and motorcycle were also found.
As per the registration value, the properties are worth ₹2.15 crore.
However, considering the present market, the value of the immovable properties would be worth tens of crores of rupees.
