The Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths on Thursday evening launched surprise checks on the Joint Sub-Registrar Offices I and II at Greamspet here and seized Rs. 75,000 from eight staff members and some agents.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACB – Chittoor district) Shankar Reddy told the media that acting on complaints that the staff at the two registration offices were fleecing the public for doing their work, the raids were conducted.

“We have checked individual staff members agents, besides making searches in toilets, dustbins, crevices in walls and table drawers and seized Rs. 75,000 in cash.

“We have questioned the joint sub-registrars Ashok Kumar and Padmasekhar Reddy, the office staff and agents. A case would be registered,” Mr. Shankar Reddy said.
