The Tirumala police on Wednesday rescued a minor girl who had gone missing near gali gopuram on the Tirumala footpath last month.

The girl, hailing from West Godavari district, had come along with her parents and was reportedly abducted from the spot. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Tirumala) K. Nanjundappa booked a kidnap case in the II Town Police Station at Tirumala.

The abduction made headlines in the media, even in adjoining Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

On Wednesday, the police got a tip-off that the girl was found in the possession of B. Subramanyam, a resident of Seshachalapuram ST Colony under Chittoor taluk police station limits. “A joint team from the Tirupati , Tirumala and Chittoor police stations rushed to Chittoor and rescued the girl,” Superintendent of Police (Tirupati Urban) S.V. Rajasekhar Babu said.

The girl was handed over to her parents.
