Bodo militants on Tuesday released engineer B. Ankamma Rao who was kidnapped in Chirang district, Assam, on December 22.
New Year Celebrations set in early for the family of B. Ankamma Rao (45), hailing from Pedda Jagarlamudi village in Prakasam district as he was freed after an agonising 10-days in captivity. The engineer was working in a power project being executed by his company in Assam.
Elated over the release of her husband, Ms. Vani said: “We were hoping against hope to hear the good news of his release every day. My happiness knew no bounds when I heard my husband’s voice on my mobile phone in the morning,” she told The Hindu. Ankamma Rao , who is working with B. Seenaiah and Company, was set free near the construction site close to the Aie river in Chirang district.
The couple have two children and reside in Ramkrishnapuram near Chirala.
