Children at Twins Day organised at Spring Dale Public School in Tirupati on Tuesday.

When as many as 37 pairs of twins walked into the venue in a strikingly similar attire, hairdo and with almost similar accessories like watches, backpacks and teddy bears, those in the gathering squinted their eyes for a clear view.

Spring Dale Public School celebrated ‘Twins Day’ at their campus here on Tuesday, in which 37 pairs of twins participated and it was a feast for their eyes. In fact, all the 74 siblings are students of the same Sri Venkateswara educational group comprising three schools -- Sri Venkateswara Children’s High School, Spring Dale Public School and Silver Oaks -- which is so far the largest gathering of twins from a single educational group in the region.

Similar qualities

“No other school has the privilege of providing education to as many pairs of twins,” said the group correspondent K.S. Vasu. Apart from similar emotional qualities, most students also exhibit resemblance in excelling in the same subject. “Our teachers had enough hilarious moments when they yell at one, mistaking him/her for the other,” said principal K.R. Anuradha Gopal.

“It is truly awesome to see so many twins under one roof,” says a parent K.N. Balaji, a leading trader in the city.

The children were welcomed with similar-looking twin roses and treated to ‘twin pack of bar chocolates, apart from a cartoon film show. Headmistress Prameela Krishnan, administrative officer K. Chandrasekhar and PRO T. Sambasiva Reddy welcomed the parents who were equally surprised to find so many similar twins studying along with their wards.
