: Taking a tough line against corruption, TDP national president and A.P. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday declared that the Government would confiscate the properties of persons involved in red sanders smuggling and those indulging in corruption. “The confiscated money will be used for public good,” Mr. Naidu said.
Addressing delegates on the second day of the Mahanadu here, he said special courts would be set up to try offences related to corruption. He explained how the “floodgates for corruption” had been opened ever since former Chief Minister late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy took over the reins and scandals continued to surface every day during the 10-year Congress regime. “All those involved, including YSRC leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and officials landed in jail,” he said reaffirming his Government’s commitment to promote a corruption-free regime. The Government was keen on promoting the “people’s policing” concept.
Responding to a resolution moved by senior leader Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Mr. Naidu expressed concern over the manner in which the YSR Congress was trying to “terrorise people”. “This is evident from the manner in which a train was set on fire at Tuni in the name of agitation. It was the handiwork of YSR Congress leaders who are trying to utilise agitations to perpetrate violence,” he said.
