A pragmatic budget: expert

S. Abhirama Krishna, Director of South State Business School, Hyderabad, has said the Budget 2015 was pragmatic and practical with moderate targets and growth figures.

Delivering a talk on Budget 2015, jointly sponsored by The Hindu and Siva Sivani Institute of Management at G. Pulla Reddy Engineering College on Sunday, Mr. Abhirama Krishna said the government proposed a hike of Rs 15,000 crore in tax earnings as against Rs. 65,000 crore proposed in the previous budget.Mr. Krishna said the NDA government tactfully retained and fine-tuned all the schemes introduced by the UPA.He said the reduction in corporate tax by five per cent in the next four years offered great relief to the corporate sector along with promise to introduce uniform tax regime through GST. The Forward Marketing Commission which worked under central government was granted autonomy and placed under the SEBI. He said the steps to curb black money would help stability of the economy. The easing of prices of petroleum products in the international market made the job of easy for the Finance Minister who introduced certain growth measures.
