Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to audit the land allocated and utilised so far for industrial and other purposes in the State to ascertain the ground realities behind those allocations in the last 10 years.
It also directed the Collectors to appoint audit committees in all the districts for the purpose. The Cabinet Sub-Committee on allotment of government lands comprising Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishna Murthy, Ministers Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Atchannaidu met here on Monday and discussed issues related to land allotments, amendments to GOs 571, 607 and 424.
The committee concluded that based on the above GOs, about one lakh acres were indiscriminately allotted to various institutions in the last 10 years.
It directed officials to inquire into these land allotments and what extent of land was utilised as per the stipulations and submit reports. These details would be audited by the district-level audit committees.
The committee decided to examine whether the stipulation that no land allotments should be made within two km from the mandal headquarters had been adhered and also estimate the value of the land allotted and the income earned by the government.
