It was a well guarded secret operation that politicians and top officials in Telangana will not forget for a long time.

The ouster of Deputy Chief Minister T. Rajaiah and induction of Warangal MP Kadiyam Srihari into the Council of Ministers on Sunday had all the dramatic elements of a thriller.

After Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao personally reviewed the swine flu cases at the Secretariat and came down heavily on the functioning of the Health Department officials, the countdown for action against Dr. Rajaiah became evident.

“Only very few bureaucrats in the Chief Minister’s office and some officials in the Protocol department had an inkling,” a top official told The Hindu .
