A cup of tea will dissolve differences: Governor

Their political posturing may be adversarial. But TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao and TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu are “well-intentioned and have their own dreams and visions.”

Once the Chief Minister-designates take charge of the newly created States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, they must sit over a cup of tea and discuss any emerging conflict and issues to find an amicable settlement, says Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan.

“And I shall certainly call them for a cup of tea and give them fatherly advice on the need to put in place a consultative process to discuss any disagreement.”

The perception that the Chief Ministers and the Governor were together would send a “positive signal and these optics play a crucial role in people’s perception,” he said in an exclusive interview to The Hindu in the Raj Bhavan here.

Two days before the appointed day of bifurcation, Mr. Narasimhan, who was in an expansive mood, spoke about a variety of subjects ranging from the issues he handled during President’s Rule to the bifurcation issues.

“At least I will be remembered for being the first Governor to head two States and also the last Governor of [a] united Andhra Pradesh. It will be a good quiz question,” he guffawed.
