The Hindu - Vignan Science Fest in Guntur on Jan 28

VIJAYAWADA: The Hindu and Vignan Varsity are jointly hosting a ‘Science Fest’ for children in Guntur on January 28.

The competition is for school students of Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts, and will be held from 9.30 a.m. in the following categories: poster designing, elocution (topic: Digital India or Make in India), budding scientist (topic - Digital India or Make in India)

The event will be held at Andhra Christian College (phone: 081858 58112).

Poster designing, contest and elocution — individual event will be for juniors (students of Classes 5, 6 and 7) and seniors (classes 8, 9 and 10). Each school can nominate two students in each category.

The topic will be announced on the spot for poster design contest.

The budding scientist contest is for juniors (students of classes 8 to 10) and senior categories (11 to 12 or junior and senior inter). For this, students have to come up with exhibits in line with the project themes — with only two students per project.

Each school will nominate its best science project on any one of the above mentioned themes (one team each in junior and senior categories).

All the nominated teams will be invited to a common venue on the day of the event to display and give a three-minute presentation of their project to the audience followed by a question and answer session by the judges.

Prizes will be distributed on the same day, after all the events are completed.

Results will also be published in The Hindu dated January 29 in the respective editions. All the three events will be held simultaneously.
