A government high school teacher was beaten up by villagers of Laxmipuram in Kruthuvennu mandal in Krishna district on Monday, allegedly misbehaving with a girl student.

According to Krishna District Educational Officer A. Subba Reddy, V. Rajesh, biology teacher of ZP High School at Laxmipuram, misbehaved with a Class X student during the special class held on Sunday.

“The girl had lodged a complaint with her parents about the indecent behaviour of Mr. Rajesh on Sunday and the villagers on Monday beat him up in the school premises,” added Mr. Subba Reddy.

The District Education Department has been conducting special classes for Class X students since October-end to register better results. Irate villagers on Monday thrashed Mr. Rajesh after the school prayer was over and in the presence of other teachers. On being informed by the villagers, Mr. Subba Reddy ordered an inquiry by a special team comprising the Mandal Education Officer and the Tehsildar.

“An order suspending biology teacher V. Rajesh has been served and further investigation is on,” he told The Hindu . SP G. Vijaya Kumar said investigation was on and a case would be registered against the accused.
