The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (AP-CRDA) has reached an understanding with the International Enterprise (IE)-Singapore for availing its expertise in the management of urban assets and infrastructure planning.
It is an extension of the pact that the Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (INCAP) and the Government of Singapore signed December 8, 2014, for the preparation of master plans for Amaravati, the emerging capital city of Andhra Pradesh.
IE-Singapore is an agency of the Singapore government promoting international trade and partnering Singapore companies in global ventures.
Addressing the media after CRDA Commissioner Cherukuri Sreedhar and IE-Singapore Director Timothy Sun signed the agreement papers, Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana said the latest MoU would establish a framework for development and management of smart infrastructure and assets, an efficient urban development regulatory system and better information dissemination for citizens and other stakeholders.
URA to share
urban planning tools
Mr. Sreedhar said as part of the agreement, the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) of Singapore would share its urban planning tools with the CRDA, which is a first-of-its-kind collaboration for URA with a foreign planning agency.
Singapore would provide a grant to fund 50 per cent of the project cost, leaving the balance to be borne by the CRDA. A capacity-building programme was a component of the MoU.
Mr. Sun said the MoU was tailored to meet the current and future requirements of Amaravati and the adjoining capital region for the next 20 years.
Director of Municipal Administration K. Kannababu, CRDA Additional Commissioners V. Rama Manohara Rao and A. Mallikarjuna and Singapore Government representative Raghu were among those present.
