Policemen on patrolling duty to carry tabs

January 18, 2017 12:42 am | Updated 12:42 am IST - KURNOOL:

Kurnool Superintendent of Police A. Ravikrishna said on Tuesday that policemen on day as well as night patrol beats will carry tabs and take pictures of suspects and upload them on e-beat system to facilitate easier tracking of criminals.

The tabs would record every place visited by the beat constables and senior officials can track their movements in every police sub-division, he said at an e-beats workshop in Kurnool District Police Office. Mr. Ravikrishna told the Circle Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors to pay due attention with an eye on maintenance of law and order.

PCATS app

The SP handed over 491 tabs with Police Communication and Tracking System (PCATS) application installed in them to sub-divisional police officers. Adoption of technology in beats would help speedier detection of crime, he added.

Later addressing a crime meeting, Mr. Ravikrishna exhorted police officials to lay emphasis on curbing cyber crimes, theft of lorries and nabbing the culprits. He instructed them to pin down rowdy-sheeters and goondas with an iron hand in the district. He presented appreciation certificates to police officials and personnel who organised security during Vinayaka Chavithi, Bakrid and Krishna Pushkarams.

Officer on Special Duty Raviprakash, Armed Reserve Additional SP I. Venkatesh, DSPs, CIs and SIs from all over the district took part.
