A team of 60 police personnel right from home guard to DSP formed Police Seva Dal and assisted the pilgrims who thronged the hill shrine Srisailam for Mahasivaratri Brahmotsavams on Friday.
The Seva Dal constituted by Superintendent of Police A. Ravikrishna on the directions of DIG of Kurnool Range B.V. Ramana Kumar, sported blue uniforms fitted with body cameras to record the happenings in the vicinity. The body cameras linked to the control room at Srisailam would help identify suspects.
In order to ensure the safety of children, police tied tags to the wrists of children before allowing them into the queue lines. The tags contained the name of the child, father’s name and their residential address for easy identification.
The Seva Dal members were deployed near the temple, Lingalagattu and Pathalaganga bathing ghats. The DIG and the SP monitored the situation and gave suggestions to the personnel.
Meanwhile, Minister for Information and Public Relations Palle Raghunath Reddy and his wife Uma visited the Srisailam temple and had the darshan of Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy and Sri Bhramaramba on the Maha sivaratri festival on Friday.
