Rail passengers on their way to Bengaluru were stranded for a few hours on Thursday morning when the Push-Pull train between Kuppam and Bengaluru was stranded at Gudupalle, 9 km from Kuppam, owing to a technical snag. Hundreds of passengers, mostly daily wagers and construction workers from Kuppam and surrounding areas, had to face a tough time.

South Western Railway authorities from Bangarpet rushed to the spot and made arrangements to shift the train to the loop line at Bisanattam station. Rail traffic between Jollarpettai and Bengaluru was affected for some time. The stranded passengers trekked to the road nearby, seeking alternative modes of transport to reach their destination.

A spare engine arrived from Bangarpet in the afternoon, and the train proceeded empty to Bengaluru. The push-pull rail service caters to the requirement of nearly 8,000 passengers between Kuppam and Bengaluru.
