VIJAYAWADA: In a big catch, sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted raids on the properties of Joint Director, Employment and Training, Gopuram Muni Venkata Narayana, in Telangana State (TS) and Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. The accused officer was booked under the Disproportionate Assets case.
The seized properties had been valued about Rs. 50 crore even as the raids were continuing. However, as per Sub-Registrar’s value (Government value), the value of the seized assets was Rs. 6.7 crore, said ACB Director General (DG) R.P. Thakur.
The ACB teams raided on his properties in Hyderabad, Tirupati, Vijayawada and other places, Mr. Thakur told The Hindu .
“As many as seven teams headed by DSPs Sivarama Raju, S.V.V. Prasada Rao, K.V.V.N. Prasad and Shakeela Bhanu along their CIs, SIs and other staff conducted simultaneous raids in the two States,” said K. Jagannath Reddy, heading the ACB Central Investigation Unit.
On information that the Joint Director had amassed properties through illegal means, the ACB sleuths formed teams and began raids since the dawn. Four plots were identified in Chittoor, three in Hyderabad, agriculture land in Kadapa and Chittoor districts, six flats in Kothapet and Manikonda in Hyderabad and four shops in Ramalingeshwar Nagar, L.B. Nagar.

“We were shocked to see 105 promissory notes worth Rs. 2.65 crore for money lent, bank balances for Rs. 25 lakh, Rs. 26 lakh cash, LIC policies for Rs. 4.30 lakh, gold worth Rs. 32 lakh, silver valued about Rs.1.30 lakh and household articles worth Rs. 9 lakh in the house of the JD,” the ACB chief said.
Mr. Thakur said Venkata Narayana joined service as group instructor in the Chittoor Industrial Training Institute (ITI), became principal at Tada in Nellore district, assistant and deputy director and joint director for AP in the Commissioner’s Office and was operating from Vijayawada.
