Fireworks blast toll rises to 8

NELLORE: Two more victims of the Porlukatta fireworks last succumbed while undergoing treatment for serious burns at the Narayana super speciality hospital here on Wednesday.

With this, the death toll in the illegal fireworks unit explosion rose to eight while nine more persons were undergoing treatment. Their condition remained serious.

The two persons, who were declared dead today, were identified as Yekollu Chinnaih (55) and Yatagiri Ramesh (19).

They also belong to the poor ‘challa yanadi’ tribal community who are living in slums in the vicinity of the fireworks unit.
