Leader of the Opposition and YSRC chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy having a word with Kotagiri Sridhar after welcoming the latter into party fold at Dwaraka Tirumala in West Godavari district on Sunday.

Alleging that inefficiency was pervading the administration, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on Sunday called upon the people “to get ready to immerse the incompetent government in the Bay of Bengal” and extend their support to the YSR Congress Party that was committed to people’s welfare and development.

“The State is in top position with regard to corruption and kickbacks to the tune of crores of rupees have been changing hands in each and every contract. Instead of maintaining transparency in administration, the State government is allocating works on nomination basis and encouraging mafias everywhere, from sale of sand to construction of capital,” he said while addressing a public meeting here. He welcomed Kotagiri Sridhar, son of former Minister the late Kotagiri Vidyasagara Rao, into the YSRCP fold here.

Accusing the government of trying to prevent the Opposition from highlighting the public problems, Mr. Reddy said the MLAs who spoke for the public were suspended from sessions and the Privileges Committee that was expected to sort out the issue was filled with the ruling Telugu Desam Party members.

“Instead of addressing the public grievances, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is trying to deceive people by launching false campaigns. He is trying to build a positive image by slandering the Opposition on every issue and resorting to Goebbelsian campaign,” he said, referring to his recent arrest at the Visakhapantam airport by the police only to prevent him from participating in the candlelight rally demanding Special Category Status to the State.

Finding fault with the government’s land pooling policy for the construction of capital and other projects in the State, the Opposition leader said that in the entire process the benamis of the TDP were being benefited, while the farmers were forced to sell their property for peanuts.

“Change is rule is the only way to come out of this crisis and I promise that the YSRCP is with you,” he said.
