VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will participate in 47th meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos Klosters in Switzerland from January 17-20.

WEF Managing Board member Philipp Rosler had invited Mr. Naidu in November 2016, to participate in the meeting. This is the third consecutive time Mr. Naidu is receiving an invitation after he took charge as Chief Minister of bifurcated Andhra Pradesh.

Mr. Naidu was chosen as a special invitee for the summit by WEF President Klaus Schwab for a session on the “Future of Urban Development.” Mr. Naidu will attend 45 to 50 meetings at Davos. He is slated to interact with Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of various companies, according to Government Advisor Parakala Prabhakar.

Special bus

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr. Prabhakar said that the Chief Minister, on first day of the meeting, would speak on ‘preparing for the city century.’ The State government would showcase the AP as a destination for investments. Ease of doing business would be theme of the AP pavilion this year. A special bus to promote and build the image of the State has already hit the streets of Davos.

A day before the meeting, the Chief Minister would meet international investors and businessmen at Zurich. He is also slated to participate in one-to-one meetings. Swiss India Chambers and the local government were supporting AP. Mr. Naidu would attend the Time India awards function on January 17, he said.

“Continuing the practice, WEF founder and executive chairman Klaus Schwab would host a special reception to Mr. Naidu,” he added.

The Forum has chosen to focus on ‘Responsive and Responsible Leadership’ in its 2017 deliberations to highlight deeper commitment needed for inclusive and sustainable growth.
