Constable dies during SI selections

January 08, 2017 12:39 am | Updated 12:39 am IST - KURNOOL:

The dream of a constable of Anantapur One Town police station Balaji Naik, 30, to become a sub-inspector, was short-lived, when he collapsed following a heart attack while taking part in the 1,600-metre run for SI selections in SAP Camp in Kurnool on Saturday.

The constable was rushed to Kurnool General Hospital and died a little while later. Naik had cleared two events in the physical endurance test earlier, according to police. He is survived by wife and two children.

DIG of Kurnool Range B.V. Ramana Kumar and Superintendent of Police A. Ravikrishna visited the hospital and paid homage to the deceased constable.
