Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) here conducted raids on the properties of Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer B. Rami Reddy in Nellore and several other places in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Friday. The ACB officials initially found Mr. Reddy in possession of assets worth nearly ₹2 crore which were disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The raids, which began on Friday morning, were carried out simultaneously in Hyderabad, Tirupati, Kavali and other places.

Mr. Reddy was found to be in possession of documents relating to 10 plots spread over different places, one multi-storeyed building in the Children’s Park area and so on. Raids were also conducted in the premises of several of his relatives.

Benamis

The ACB officials said Mr. Reddy was using two colleagues as benami for his transactions. They included one Jaya Ramaiah, working as a warden at the BC hostel in Kavali town.The raids came as a shock to the employees of the Nellore Municipal Corporation, where Mr. Reddy joined recently as the in-charge Commissioner.

Sources said Mr. Reddy was due to retire in a month or two.
