800 gram panchayats pass resolution against division

As many as 8,000 sarpanches and ward members of about 800 gram panchayats in Kadapa district, setting aside their political affiliations, unanimous signed resolutions against bifurcation of the State, and MPDOs handed over the resolution copies to Kadapa Zilla Parishad CEO Malyadri on Wednesday.

Tahsildars, MPDOs, mandal special officers, sarpanches and panchayat ward members would stage a mass hunger strike on Kadapa Zilla Parishad premises on September 27, Samaikyandhra Parirakshana Samithi chairman and Additional Joint Collector M. Sudarshan Reddy told newsmen here. The resolutions received from the gram panchayats would be sent to President Pranab Mukherjee and Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on September 27, Mr. Malyadri said.

Mass hunger strike

Directors of all the cooperative societies in Kadapa district would stage a mass hunger strike on September 29, Mr. Sudarshan Reddy said.

He said farmers and people in the villages would be enlightened on the perils of bifurcation, he said.
