Assuring that uninterrupted power supply will continue to domestic consumers, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Monday said the State government was in a position to provide seven hours power supply to the farm sector by bearing subsidy to the tune of Rs. 3,500 crore a year.
Accompanied by Home Minister N. Chinna Rajappa, Mr. Ramakrishnudu inaugurated the Electricity Revenue Office (ERO) building constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.04 crore near Raja Tank.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ramakrishnudu said owing to the failures in power supply, over 6,000 small scale industries were closed in the State in the last 10 years. “The Telugu Desam has a clear vision with regard to power supply. We secured loan to the tune of Rs. 3,500 crore from the World Bank and set up Transco and Genco, which are providing better services to the people now,” he said. The Minister said the focus would be on reducing the distribution losses in the days to come and improve the power generation in the State.
