It was a pathetic scene in front of the district jail on Saturday.
Hundreds of people along with children and elders waited for hours together to meet their relatives, who were convicted in a case of an attack on a woman at Madichetpally in Peddashankarampet mandal.
As many as 67 persons of the village were sentenced to five year imprisonment on April 17 by a Sub-Court in Medak for attacking a woman, Sangamma, way back on May 31, 2009. All of them were initially shifted to the district jail located at Kandi from where they were shifted to Cherlapally jail on Saturday. Relatives wanted to meet the convicts but were not allowed to do so by the jail officials even after they waited for hours together.
They even protested in front of the jail for not allowing them to meet their relatives. The jail officials stated that it was not possible as all the convicts were being shifted to Cherlapally jail as they were sentenced to more than two years imprisonment.
