Director-General of Police M. Malakondaiah on Saturday said that at least 6,000 new constables would complete their training and join the State police department by early June. Admitting that the traffic wing of the State police was in a great need of more personnel, Mr. Malakondaiah has said that a significant number of newly-recruited police constables would be deployed in the traffic wing.
Bhumi puja
Mr. Malakondaiah, accompanied by Kaikaluru MLA K. Srinivas, on Saturday performed bhumi puja for construction of the two-story model police station at Kaikaluru. The Police Department will spend ₹1.4 crore for the model police station through the Police Housing Corporation. “The construction of three model police stations — Avanigadda, Nandigama and Chilakalapudi — is in full swing. A plan is under consideration for developing another model police station at Mylavaram in Krishna district,” he said.
Mr. Malakondaiah said steps would be taken to construct more number of quarters across the State. Police Housing Corporation Managing Director Rajendranath Reddy, Superintendent of Police Sarvashresth Tripathi and Gudivada Deputy Superintendent of Police Mahesh were present in the bhumi puja.
The DGP accompanied by Mr. Srinivas and Eluru MP M. Babu performed bhumi puja for bus terminus at Kaikaluru on Saturday.
