5K Run draws people across State

Leaders highlight importance of physical exercise

The 5K Run will help create awareness among people on physical exercises besides strengthening their self-confidence, Minister R.V.S.K. Ranga Rao has said.

The Minister joined MLA Meesala Geeta, Municipal Chairperson P. Ramakrishna, Collector Vivek Yadav, Superintendent of Police G. Pala Raju, Police Training College Principal Raja Sikhamani, SETVIZ CEO Satyanarayana, DSDO Surya Rao and many youth in the run, which was organised as part of the ongoing 5th phase of the Janmabhoomi - Maa Ooru programme at Vizianagaram on Sunday.

In Parvathipuram, a couple of students complained of breathlessness and they were rushed to the area hospital. The event evoked good response in the district.

‘Grievances addressed’

In Srikakulam, MLA Gunda Lakshmi Devi said the programme was helping citizens get quick response from officials over their long-pending grievances. In charge Municipal Commissioner Venkateswara Rao, Government Degree College Principal M. Baburao and others participated in the 5K Run here.

Kadapa Collector T. Babu Rao Naidu and Rajya Sabha member C.M. Ramesh Naidu flagged off the 5K Run at the Kadapa municipal high school. Students of NCC, several schools and the sports school exhibited karate and gymnastic feats at Seven Roads junction. OSD (Operations) Nayeen Asmi, in charge Joint Collector Nageswara Rao, Joint Collector-2 Siva Reddy, DRO Babaiah and other officials and teachers took part.

Collector S. Satyanarayana flagged off the 5K Run in Kurnool town. MLC K.E. Prabhakar and MLA S.V. Mohan Reddy were present. The 5k Run was conducted in all the towns and mandals in Kadapla and Kurnool districts.

Officials, elected representatives, students and senior citizens joined the 5K Run oganised by the East Godavari district administration in Kakinada. Rural MLA Pilli Ananthalakshmi, Collector Kartikeya Misra, Mayor Sunkara Pavani, MLC Chikkala Ramachandra Rao, Joint Collector A. Mallikarjuna, officials and local elected representatives were present.

Collector P.S. Pradyumna flagged off the 5K Run at Mesanical grounds in Chittoor.
