A four-year old boy, Syam Goutham, a pre-KG student, was allegedly kidnapped by two unidentified persons on Tuesday in Bhimavaram town. The boy’s father Lakshmana Rao is a carpenter and mother Durga is homemaker.

The kidnappers allegedly demanded a ransom of ₹5 lakh from the parents and switched off their cellphones after 10 minutes of the incident.

According to Bhimavaram police, the alleged kidnappers came on a bike and one of them went inside the school and told principal Prasanna Kumar that the boy’s mother suddenly fell sick and wanted to see him. After the accused left the school along with his aide, the principal called boy’s father and enquired about his wife’s health. When Mr. Rao told that she is doing well, they sensed that something went wrong.

After half an hour, the couple got a call from kidnappers demanding ₹5 lakh as ransom. Immediately, they informed police and went to school and contacted the principal and got the details about the incident. However, the principal announced that he is ready to pay the ransom amount on behalf of the family, if the kidnappers leave the boy without harming him.

The police said that they were investigating the case from all angles and trying to trace kidnappers.
