4 killed in bus-van collision

Four persons were killed and 10 others injured, when the van in which they were travelling collided with a private bus at Pellakuru on the Naidupeta-Srikalahasti highway in the early hours of Saturday.

The injured have been rushed to hospitals at Naidupeta and Nellore. The accident took place when the passengers in the van were returning after visiting Tirumala as part of a pilgrimage. The police said 16 persons were travelling in the van and they all belong to Naidupalem village in Bollapalli mandal in Guntur district.

The deceased were identified as Machiboyina Subbamma, 50, Pathi Poojitha, 18 months, Pathi Sai Venkata Charan, 3, and V. Pulla Reddy, 28, the van driver.
