3-year-old boy charred to death in Dummugudem

A three-year-old boy was charred to death and his mother sustained serious burn injuries when the latter allegedly attempted self-immolation at their hut near L N Rao Peta village in Dummugudem mandal late on Wednesday night.

The exact identity of the deceased could not be established immediately. The local police could not reach the spot, which is located in the far flung area of the mandal.

According to unconfirmed reports, a woman allegedly attempted suicide by setting herself ablaze in front of her hut following a tiff with her husband late in the night.

The woman suffered critical burn injuries in the incident. Her three-year-old son was burnt alive after the flames engulfed the hut, in which he was sleeping.
