As the flood waters from the non-catchment areas started flowing into the Godavari, all the 175 gates of the Dowleswaram Barrage were lifted on Thursday to let out 3.53 lakh cusecs of water into the sea.

The level at the barrage was recorded as 7.60 feet. As there were no rains in the catchment area, the flood waters would recede by Friday, say Head Works engineers. Meanwhile, Agency villages were limping back to normalcy after three days of rains. As a preventive measure, medical teams and ITDA officers visited several villages to distribute medicines.
