2K run held to promote organ donation

Students, employees and district officials made a beeline to the VRC College grounds to take part in a ‘2K Run’ which was organised on Sunday morning to create awareness on the need for organ donation to save precious lives of people injured in accidents and suffering terminal diseases.

The medicos and doctors of the Narayana Medical College and Hospital located on the outskirts of the Nellore city arrived in strength to make the 2K run a success.

Vemireddy Pattabhirami Reddy, coordinator of the programme, said that the event was aimed at sensitizing all sections of the people to come forward and donate organs for the sake of saving lives.

The run started from the VRC Grounds and passed through Gandhibomma statue, AC Centre, NTR statue, Kanakamahal Centre and Trunk Road.

Speaking as chief guest on the occasion, District Collector M. Janaki said that donation of organs of a person who was in brain dead condition would help give rebirth to another person. She called upon the civil society organisations to take part in such awareness activities for the cause of betterment of human society.
