250 donate blood, 500 pledge eyes

As many as 250 high school students and teachers donated blood and about 500 persons signed forms pledging their eyes in a blood donation camp organised at Indus School at Pandipadu in Kallur mandal on the fourth death anniversary of its founder Kalyanamma on Wednesday.

Rajya Sabha member T.G. Venkatesh lit a lamp to inaugurate the blood donation camp, organised in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society blood bank, and paid tributes to Kalyanamma. Nearly half of the requirement of blood for the critically ill and injured persons was being catered to through blood donations, the MP said and wanted awareness created among students to volunteer to donate blood.

Indus school organised the blood donation camp for the fourth successive year on its founder’s death anniversary, said Montessorri school founder K. Rajasekhar. IRCS district chairman Srinivasulu, medical officer Gopal, students and their parents donated blood.
