The Adoni Municipality, which will go to the polls on March 30 along with eight other municipalities in the district, has a total of 224 candidates are in the fray for 41 wards. The TDP and the YSR Congress are in the forefront in the campaign.
The TDP is projecting Vitta Srilatha as its chairperson candidate while the YSRC has named H. Lavanya as its candidate.
The TDP has filed candidates from 40 wards and is also supporting an independent in a ward. The YSRC could field nominees in all 41 wards.
Meanwhile, the Congress is facing difficulties with no suitable candidate in many places. The party has managed to field candidates in 39 wards, but does not seem serious about the campaign. The MIM, which has entered the fray for the first time, has fielded candidates in 21 wards and is likely to garner minority votes.
The BJP is contesting in 18 wards.
