The VIII Additional District Court in Chittoor on Monday sentenced two Salem (TN)-based youth to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a housewife. During the two-year trial, the victim committed suicide and one of the three accused died.

On December 12, 2013, three youths of Salem in Tamil Nadu -- Sampath, Kasi, and Raghavan -- assaulted the housewife and her family friend at Raja Indlu forest location close to Nendragunta Cross between Pakala and Penumuru mandals.

The trio dragged the woman and her friend into the forest and outraged her modesty.
